November 11 is Veteran's Day. For this assignment, I want you to write a short essay (min. 3 paragraphs) about what this day means to you and/or your family. Why is this an important holiday to celebrate/remember?

**You have been given the proper way to cite sources. If you do not use outside sources and/or quotes in your paper, you grade will not be higher than 50%. Sources and quotes must be properly cited in the text and on a bibliography, points will be deducted if this is not done.** 

            You will create a report AND project on a President.

1) The report: This report is to be reflective of a president’s life and highly focused on his time in office. Therefore, your paper should include aspects of a biography with an emphasis on your subject’s life as the president. Mention life details: where they are from, details about their family, etc. When it comes to talking about your subject as president, consider the following questions: When did they become president? How long were they president? Were there any major issues that came up while they were in office? Did they do any significant to/for the country while in office? If so, what? If not, why? Are they considered to be a “good” president? Why/why not?

When: TUESDAY, 9 OCTOBER 2012 AFTER SCHOOL, 3:50PM-5PM
Details: If you wish to complete this assignment, you MUST (MUST MUST MUST MUST) print out this post, fill it out and bring it to me BEFORE October 9--please note that you need a parent signature. You will not be admitted without a parent signature.

If you wish to complete this extra credit assignment but are worried that you may not have a ride home, good news! If enough people want the before school option, you can complete this assignment BEFORE school from 7AM-8:20AM+.

The movie will start PROMPTLY at these times. If you are late, any consequences this has on the assignment are on you.

*You will NOT know the companion assignment until you arrive. However, if you were here for the episode(s) of "John Adams" during Homecoming week, you already have a good idea.

Quiz 2 Postponement

Because this week is scheduled differently, it's not really fair to have a quiz on Friday as scheduled. (The class schedule is posted on the storage room door by the way.) So, we will be using Thursday and Friday either as your constitutional debate (ahem, 2nd period) day and/or review for the quiz.

You will still be receiving a study packet on Thursday to help you prepare for the quiz. Keep in mind that not everything in the study packet will appear on the quiz. I must, however, inform you that you will need to know a few dates for this quiz, particularly those dates relating to the documents we have talked about. The US documents we have talked about are posted here if you would like to review them again.
